The Pitney Bowes 791-BLN cartridge (3UB76A/3UB77A/3UB78A series, also marketed under the part numbers 79P-BLN and 790-BLN) is a high-capacity blue postal ink designed for SendPro P and Connect+ range franking machines. It replaces the standard 789-BL reference with increased yield.
Composition and safety
The ink consists mainly of water (65–90 %) and 2,4,7,9-tetramethyl-5-decyne-4,7-diol (< 1 %) and two preservatives, 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one (each < 0.05 %). These components result in the hazard statement H317 (skin sensitisation, Category 1A); the product must be handled whilst wearing protective gloves.
Robustness and conditions of use
The high flash point (> 187 °C, closed cup) and low VOC content (< 74 g/L) make it a stable ink under normal storage conditions. The product is not regulated for transport (DOT, ADR/RID, IATA, IMDG).
